OUR STORY
Continuity, independence, and community
The Hernández family has run a wildlife monitoring and ecotourism base on their property since the late 1990s. From 2023, GVI ran a volunteer monitoring project there, until it closed suddenly in June 2026.
KREA was founded in 2026 by former GVI Kéköldi staff as a Costa Rican non-profit association, to continue the project locally, with a more focused scope and clear guidelines, in partnership with the Bribri family that hosts us.
